Doctors Place Inc. (“Doctors Place,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal and health information in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and all applicable federal and state privacy laws.

This Notice describes how we may use and disclose your Protected Health Information (PHI) and your rights regarding that information.

Doctors Place Inc. also operates under the DBA “DPmeds”, which provides telemedicine, weight-management, and wellness services. This policy applies to all operations of Doctors Place Inc. and its DBA, DPmeds.

2. Our Legal Duty

We are required by law to:

  • Maintain the privacy of your Protected Health Information.

  • Provide you with this Notice of our legal duties and privacy practices.

  • Notify you if a breach occurs that may have compromised your PHI.

  • Follow the terms of this Notice currently in effect.

3. How We May Use and Disclose Your Information

a. For Treatment
We may use or share your information with physicians, nurses, laboratories, pharmacies, and other healthcare professionals involved in your care.

b. For Payment
We may use and disclose your information to obtain payment for services rendered, including billing insurance companies, employers, or third-party payers.

c. For Healthcare Operations
We may use information to manage our practice operations, improve services, conduct quality assessments, and comply with licensing and accreditation.

d. As Required by Law
We may disclose information when required by federal, state, or local law (e.g., public health reporting, court orders, or audits).

e. For Appointment Reminders and Communications
We may contact you via phone, text, email, or mail regarding appointments, test results, or follow-ups.

f. For Business Associates
We may share your PHI with business partners (e.g., billing companies, cloud providers, or labs) who must also comply with HIPAA regulations.

g.No mobile opt-in data will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or unrelated purposes.

4. Your Rights Regarding Your Health Information

You have the right to:

  • Access and Copies: Request to view or obtain a copy of your medical record.

  • Amend: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.

  • Restrictions: Request limits on how we use or share your information.

  • Confidential Communications: Request communications be sent to an alternate address or phone number.

  • Accounting of Disclosures: Request a list of certain disclosures made about you.

  • Revoke Authorization: Withdraw consent for disclosures where applicable.

  • Receive a Paper Copy: Request a paper copy of this Notice at any time.

5. Data Security

We use industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your data, including encryption, secure servers, and access controls. Only authorized personnel have access to PHI as needed for legitimate business or clinical purposes.

6. Telemedicine and Electronic Communications

For telemedicine services provided through DPmeds, all communications are conducted through secure, HIPAA-compliant platforms. You acknowledge that electronic communication, while protected, may carry inherent risks, and you consent to its use by engaging in these services.

7. Changes to This Notice

We reserve the right to update or modify this Notice at any time. Updates will be posted on our website with the revised effective date. The revised policy applies to all PHI we maintain, including information collected before the change.
